Hello, new here to site. I was wondering anyone knows what round rubber stops are on both ends of the string for? I bought the bow new in early 90,s and had strings changed and they were always transfered to the new string, are they really needed?

I'm not completely sure of what your are referring. However a product meeting your description called "brush buttons" is made and sold to keep brush and weeds from catching between the string and limb. They are more commonly used on recurve bows used for hunting.

Here's a pic of what 3Rivers Archery sells called brush buttons. They also indicate they serve as string silencers.
